What inSigner covers

The parts of a UK electronic signature workflow that the service provides today.

Are electronic signatures legal in the United Kingdom?

For many commercial agreements, yes. Section 7 of the Electronic Communications Act 2000 makes an electronic signature admissible in evidence on authenticity and integrity. Article 25 of the UK eIDAS regulation says an electronic signature is not denied legal effect, or admissibility, solely because it is electronic. The standard inSigner signature is a simple electronic signature. Its effect still depends on the document and on the law of England and Wales, Scotland, or Northern Ireland that governs it.

What does the Electronic Communications Act 2000 say?

Section 7 says that an electronic signature, and a certificate of that signature, is admissible in evidence in legal proceedings on whether the communication or data is authentic and whether it is intact. Since 2016, an electronic signature for that section is something in electronic form that purports to be used by the person creating it to sign. The section does not say that every document can be signed electronically.

How does the record show who signed and what they signed?

Each person signs the fields you placed in the document you sent. The evidence record keeps their name and email address or phone number, when the document was sent, viewed, and signed, the IP address and device details, and the authentication used.

Can I download evidence for a completed document?

Yes. You can download the completed PDF and the evidence record, including a SHA-256 hash of the final file. If a single byte changes, the hash no longer matches.

What inSigner does not cover

The limits, including the claims this page does not make.

Is the standard signature a UK qualified electronic signature?

No. Article 25(2) gives a qualified electronic signature the equivalent legal effect of a handwritten signature. The standard inSigner signature is a simple electronic signature, not an advanced or qualified one. Qualified signatures for Europe, and the AATL check, are Enterprise options. They are not included in Essential or Pro, and this page does not present that European option as a UK qualified signature. Article 25(3), the EU rule on cross-border recognition, was removed from UK law at the end of 2020.

Does inSigner make our workflow UK GDPR compliant?

No. For the documents you send, you are the controller and Nubesti is the processor under the data processing agreement, which includes the EU Standard Contractual Clauses and the UK Addendum. inSigner does not decide whether your workflow meets the UK GDPR, and it does not write your notices or choose your lawful basis.

Can every document in the United Kingdom go through inSigner?

No. A deed in England and Wales generally has to be signed in the presence of a witness who attests it, and inSigner does not supply that witness. Wills follow their own form. Some Scottish documents that the Requirements of Writing (Scotland) Act 1995 requires to be in writing need an advanced electronic signature under the Electronic Documents (Scotland) Regulations 2014. inSigner does not file documents with HM Land Registry or Companies House.

Does inSigner cover clinical consent, account opening, or round-the-clock regulated workflows?

No. This page does not offer patient forms, clinical consent, account opening, or credit agreements as a regulated program. Identity checks such as KYC are add-ons priced separately, not the default. inSigner does not publish an uptime percentage or a public status page, and it does not decide the legal effect of a document.
