Electronic signature FAQAnswers, clearly.

Short answers about electronic signatures in inSigner, including the SHA-256 completion record and the limits of a standard signature.

Getting started

01What is an electronic signature?

An electronic signature is data attached to a document that shows a person agreed. In inSigner, each person signs the fields you placed. The completion record keeps who was invited, what they signed, and a SHA-256 hash of the final file. The hash shows whether that file still matches. It does not decide the legal effect of the document.

02How do I start sending documents?

Create an account and open the workspace. Every plan includes unlimited documents, templates, email delivery, and reminders. Essential is 4.99 US dollars a month and Pro is 39 US dollars a month, after a one-month trial. Enterprise is priced for the team.

03Can I sign a document from my phone?

Yes. Signing in the browser works on a phone today. The iOS and Android apps are planned. They are not a public download yet.

Documents and templates

04Can I reuse a document as a template?

Yes. Templates are included on every plan. You prepare the document once and send it again with the same fields.

05Which file do I upload?

Upload a PDF, place the fields, and name every signer. This page does not list other file formats.

Sending and signing

06How do I send a document for signature?

Upload the PDF, place the fields, add each person, and send the invitation by email. Reminders are included on every plan.

07What happens when everyone has signed?

You can download the completed PDF and the completion record together. The record includes a SHA-256 hash of the final file. If the file changes, the hash no longer matches.

08Are electronic signatures legally binding?

That depends on the document and the law that governs it. In many places an electronic signature is not denied legal effect solely because it is electronic. The standard inSigner signature is a simple electronic signature. It is not a qualified electronic signature. QES for Europe is an Enterprise option, not on Essential or Pro. Read the country guide for the document, and ask your counsel when a special form applies.

Security and legality

09How does inSigner protect a document?

The connection uses HTTPS with modern TLS. Stored files are encrypted at rest by the storage providers. The SHA-256 value is an integrity check of the final file, not a form of encryption. This page does not claim a security certification, an uptime percentage, or a public status page.

10How is a signer identified?

The record keeps the name and the email or phone you entered, and the send, view, and sign events. KYC is an add-on priced separately. It is not the default. When you add it, KYC covers 230+ countries and territories and 14,000+ document types.

11Is the standard signature a qualified signature?

No. Essential and Pro use a simple electronic signature. QES for Europe and the AATL check are Enterprise options. They are not included in Essential or Pro.

Plans and billing

12What does each plan include?

Every plan includes unlimited documents. Essential is 4.99 US dollars a month. Pro is 39 US dollars a month and adds the API, webhooks, and developer tools. Enterprise adds white label, SSO, QES for Europe, and the AATL check. Essential and Pro are priced after a one-month trial. Enterprise is custom.

13Are add-ons included in the subscription?

No. OTP by WhatsApp and SMS, signing documents on WhatsApp, and KYC are priced separately. You are responsible for the consent a message requires.

Integrations

14Does inSigner have an API?

Yes, on Pro and Enterprise. You can create and send documents from your own system and receive completion events by webhook. Essential does not include API access.

15Is there a plugin marketplace?

No. inSigner does not publish a directory of third-party plugins. If you need a specific system, write to hi@insigner.co and describe the workflow.
